1.1 C’est La Vie - Meet The Winklers

I’m going to warn you know, this post is going to be kind of lame because I wasn’t planning to post this as a blog when I first started with this family. I thought about starting over, but I just couldn’t stand the idea, I loved them too much. Fortunately, I wasn’t too far into the legacy. So This post will be getting us all caught up to the present.

Forgive me, for this post will be a bit wordy, and we will miss a good chunk of action because I don’t have screenshots to back up my descriptions. (Because I wasn’t planning to make this a blog.) Won’t make that mistake again. *fingers crossed*

First, I would like to start off by saying I don’t have all the expansions installed. Noob move, I know. But I’m poor and working on a used laptop. Forgive me.

This is what I currently have installed. In the next few days, if money allows, I plan to add Eco Lifestyle, Strangerville, Laundry Day, and Tiny Living. I don’t plan to do any of the gameplay aspects of them until further in the legacy, but I think I will enjoy having more stuffs. Here’s hoping my laptop can handle it.

Enough blathering, let’s meet our founder.

This handsome fella is Cannon Winkler. (A randomly generated name that made me giggle, so I kept it.) He will be the founder of what will assuredly be a most differing legacy.

This will be a my attempt at Differences in the Family Tree legacy challenge.

His goals for this generation are Living Off The Land:

Master gardening and/or fishing
Collect every plant and/or fish
Marry someone with the same love of the outdoors as you
Have 2 children
Complete the Freelance botanist and/or The Angling Ace

His traits:

I switch back and forth between angling ace and freelance botonist for his aspiration. I’m trying to 100 percent this generation. Also, with master controller, I switched up the lifespan to halfway between Normal and Long lifespan. So 4 sim days for every 1 sim year of age. I’m waffling with that decision, just cuz 16 days is a long freaking time to have toddlers, but I chose it and I guess I’m sticking with it. (until I can’t stand it anymore.)

Enough about me already. Back to Cannon. (I still giggle at that name.)

Original house by Taylalasims

At the start of his young adult life, Cannon bought a rustic but cute little farm house on a small plot of land. It wasn’t much, but big enough for him to have a good size garden full of fresh fruits and veggies, and close to some great fishing locales in the lovely Willow Creek. Cannon hopes to make most every meal with fresh ingredients.

After a little while of fishing around town and cultivating his little garden, Cannon starts to get lonely, and starts dreaming of a wife and children. He doesn’t know what he wants in a woman, except that he hopes she loves the outdoors as much as he does.

(Editor’s insertion here: At the time that I started this challenge, there was a lot going on in the world, so I decided to theme my challegenge in honor of Black Lives Matter and Color of Change, so I wanted the Founder and Partner to be people of color. And possibly most/all future spouses. I hope that doesn’t sound crass, it’s not something I usually worry about at all, but I thought it would add extra flavor and is something close to my heart.)

Anyhoo, Cannon spent every moment he wasn’t gardening or fishing chatting up every beautiful woman he passed by, hoping to spark a connection with her. But nothing was clicking, and he was begining to lose hope when he saw this vision of beauty.

This is Beatriz. She was a bit shy to start, but when they discussed nature she came alive. For Cannon, it was instant love, but he knew he would have to take things slow and easy with this shy girl. Through talks of nature and gifts of plants, they became fast friends.

And before long, even more.

First came love.

She said Yes!

(And this is where the lack of pics becomes very obvious, bear with me this will be the last time, I promise. )

Cannon had dreamed of a big wedding at the Von Haunt Estate. All was prepared, the guests had arrived he’d baked the cake himself, and he and his Beloved Beatriz stood beneath the alter. But then she runs, and leaves him confused and alone. He just stands there, expecting her to come back, but she never does.

But then he realizes, no need to be heart-broken. He understands her like he does himself. She just got shy. So he gets home and calls her up and they talk it through.

“How ’bout this,” he proposes, “let’s just elope.”

Bea agrees, so and they become happily married.

So with that, let me show you her traits:

Her Aspiration is to be a nerd brain, and she’s in the Scientist Career. I have since learned that this is my favorite, and I follow her to work everyday. She brought 20,000 simoleons with her when she moved in and they used that money to the expand the house for what they hoped would be a soon growing family. Which they started on right away.

Cannon had long awaited this night. The night the celebrated their love and matrimony. But wait, there was something Beatriz hadn’t told him. Se was not as she seemed to be. She was an alien from another planet. She was sent here to study earth, and aid in their scientific endeavours.

I redressed her. It was necessary.

But Cannon didn’t care. He loved her anyway. Their wedding night was sucessful and before long came their first baby.

Sorry for the lack of baby pictures, I wasn’t prepared for this.

Baby Eva grew up to be an independent toddler. Though surprised to see a blue baby, Cannon did not love her any less.

Not long after Eva’s first birthday, came baby sister Kaylee. Also blue. I was hoping for a boy this go round but no luck. It’s at this point I realize that Eva has 11 more days until age up and I’m going to have two toddlers at the same time, and I still want to try for a boy and omg what have I gotten myself into, and I start to freak out, and save and quit.

But I’m back now and here to share it all with you! Thanks for being here. So with that, I will leave you with some pics of the updated house.

NGL I’m not a great builder.
Not a great decorator either.
Let’s hope I’m a fairly decent storyteller, cuz I don’t have much else going for me,
